Image Not Available For years parents and professionals have been using Carol Gray's Social Stories model to teach social concepts and skills to individuals with an autistic spectrum disorder. Carol is the author of several books including The New Social Story Book and My Social Stories Book. She has also written many articles, resources and chapters, as well as conducting Social Stories workshops throughout the world. In 2006 Carol teamed with Mark Shelley, president of The Special Minds Foundation, to create the Storymovies DVD.

Parents and professionals around the world have already experienced success using Carol Gray's social stories with a wide variety of children and adolescents. Now you can enjoy watching social stories enacted by real children, parents, and teachers. Freeze-frames show the text of the story, which reinforces the concepts being taught. Volume 1 contains 25 Storymovies and a guide to using this resource.

The Professional Edition also includes a black & white DVD version of the 25 Storymovies, color and black & white DVD with movie footage (minus freeze frames with text and voice over announcer) for further customization, and a CD ROM with still images from each scene in every movie totaling 400 photographs. The CD also includes a description and overview of games and activities to be used in conjunction with the Storymovies. This STANDARD VERSION lacks these features.

If one picture is worth a thousand words, Storymovies are worth at least a million!--Diane Twachtman-Cullen, PhD, , Editor-in-Chief, Autism Spectrum Quarterly and Executive Director, ADDCON Center

Exceptionally effective teaching tool to engage students in meaningful social learning…a MUST HAVE in your toolbox.--Linda Hodgdon, MEd, CCC-SLP, author of Visual Strategies for Improving Communication

Storymovies is a groundbreaking and significant innovation for children with challenges in social skills and social understanding, and their families. Carol Gray and Mark Shelley have combined their deep understanding of the visual learning style of children with social difficulties with the latest in visual arts technology, to develop an engaging and respectful approach to enhancing social skills and understanding in every day activities. Storymovies make Social Stories come alive in a new and dynamic medium, thus making one of the most widely applied and effective strategies for children even more meaningful. Storymovies utilizes the latest technological advances to highlight important social concepts to ensure that children will both understand and apply such concepts in their daily lives. Storymovies will empower parents and professionals to play an active role in supporting children's social development, and will undoubtedly have a profound impact on improving social understanding, relationships and quality of life for so many children and families.--Barry M. Prizant, PhD., CCC-SLP Director, Childhood Communication Services and Adjunct Professor Center for the Study of Human Development, Brown University
