Product of the Week: KiD'n Together

Bridging blues, folk, Calypso, island, and barbershop styles of music, brothers Alex and Ben Meisel of KiD’n Together bring a love of music, education, and fun to your doorstep.

Not all kids music is created equal, and since almost all kids love music, we want to give them the best -- and KiD’n Together certainly delivers.  From the western storytelling style of “Cowboy Kelly” to the scat and smooth jazz of “Cool Carla” to the a capella “Wheels on the Bus” to the simply fun “Have You Ever Felt So Silly,” KiD’n Together both entertains and educates.

Whether it’s the combination of slow and fast from “Let’s Dance,” the introduction to musical instruments and styles in “Hush Li’l’ Baba,” or following directions in “Pat Your Head, Clap Your Hands,” each song teaches ideas or skills and packs a punch of fun.

The music of KiD’n Together was first inspired by Alex’s son Matthew, who was born with Down syndrome and was later diagnosed with autism.  Seeing Matthew’s happy response to music was just the beginning of what is now three full-length kids music albums and numerous awards, including Publisher’s Weekly starred review, Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award, and Parents Choice Awards.

The acoustic nature of the quality recordings is very appealing to kids, and the upbeat bluesy styles are energetic and exciting.  The lush harmonies evoke a style reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkle, and the folksy tone is also appealing to adults as well as kids.  The lyrics are often hilarious and always clever, and it cultivates cognitive and communication skills.

It is amazing that something that worked for Alex’s son Matthew also does wonders for other children and families, both in and out of the special needs community.
