With 70 chapters, Little People of America is an organization for persons and families involved with the condition of dwarfism. It is involved in peer and parent support, medical resources and referrals, scholarships, and programs that benefit the dwarfism community, promoting education, community outreach, personal and family strength, and life achievements. LPA strives to bring solutions and global awareness to the prominent issues affecting individuals of short stature and their families.
Their national conference starts week after next, and the theme is bullying. For information http://www.lpaonline.org/
The LPA National Conference will present Jodee Blanco as keynote speaker. Workshops on Tuesday will be devoted to the subject of bullying, with Jodee’s keynote address in the morning and workshop in the afternoon. Workshops by LPA members who are anti-bullying advocates in the afternoon are also featured.
Bullying can affect anyone, and survivor, expert and activist Jodee Blanco is one of the country’s pre-eminent voices on the subject of school bullying. She is the author of The New York Times bestseller, Please Stop Laughing At Me… One Woman’s Inspirational Story, and Please Stop Laughing at Us… One Survivors Extraordinary Quest to Prevent School Bullying.
Mark Trombino, LPA lifetime member and LPA member Gail Blackburn will be leading workshops in the afternoon. Their non-profit agency, Motivational Small Talk, specializes in school and workplace bullying as well as cyberbullying.
The week-long program is packed with educational, social and recreational opportunities (it is in Anaheim, after all!)
